Allina Health Surgical and Critical Care Building
BUILDING THE FUTURE OF CARE
As part of Abbott Northwestern Hospital’s Campus Revitalization and Allina Health's commitment to delivering whole-person care, the healthcare system is investing in a new Surgical and Critical Care Building. The 10-story, 575,000-square-foot facility will provide state-of-the-art critical care for the community, replacing the hospital’s existing operating rooms and creating new care environments for patients, visitors, and staff. The new facility will be LEED-certified in alignment with Allina Health’s commitment to environmental sustainability.

The new bed tower will be constructed in the middle of the active Abbott Northwestern Hospital campus in south Minneapolis. One wing of the building will replace an existing four-story parking ramp on 10th Avenue. Maintaining access to care for patients, staff, and visitors is critical to the success of this project. Detailed planning and communications for all stakeholders and the community is paramount.

Construction on the enabling work started spring 2023, with plans to welcome the facility's first patient in 2026.
The facility includes
-
1 year of skyways, connectors, and demolition
